Now Showing: The Wendigo
The Wendigo is a haunting fantasy freely adapted from Algernon Blackwood’s novella which influenced
H. P. Lovecraft.
My adaptation begins in a university art gallery on Halloween in 1899. It switches back and forth between the storyteller and his nightmarish memories of an attack on his hunting party deep in the unexplored Canadian forest by a flying creature of the night, The Wendigo.
The thirty minute film uses live action, multi-media and AI images developed specifically for our show and are animated into fanciful montages. The film is supported by a full soundtrack and original music.
More than an eerie weird tale it also touches on the nature of art and how gateways to phantom worlds might make miracles happen.

This 30-minute performance features two light-hearted, original stories written by Michael:
"Haunted Ireland" and "Uncle Gus Comes Through."
It also includes the songs "Ramblin' Rover" (a duet with Michael and his son, Sean),
"Donal Aboo", and "Red is the Rose."
Songs Sung & Recorded by Michael:
These are songs I performed recently with a mysterious guitarist. My friend and I shared the recording and editing. I sing and play harmonicas, button accordion, concertina, melodeon and the bowed psaltery. Songs are covers by The Eagles. U2, Bob Seeger, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffet and The Ozark Mountain Daredevils.
Welcome to a magical land of Irish stories, myths and legends.
Michael has performed and taught things Irish for over thirty years. He is also an award winning playwright who has produced over twenty of his plays for radio broadcast including NPR. His last Irish storytelling cd "Into The Magic" was a national audio book best seller. The Salem Times has referred to Michael as "the premier Irish storyteller in the Northwest."
